As prom season sparkles across Belize, it brings with it a whirlwind of excitement, anticipation, and for many, stress. For countless young girls, the dream of attending prom, a defining moment in their school journey, can be overshadowed by financial barriers. The cost of a dress, shoes, accessories, hair, and makeup can quickly add up, making what should be a night of celebration feel out of reach. That’s where Project Royalty comes in, a heartwarming initiative founded by Isabella Zabaneh that is leveling the playing field and giving girls from all backgrounds a chance to shine. Zabaneh spoke to our newsroom about the impact the project has on the girls
Now in its sixth year, Project Royalty provides completely free prom dresses and a personalized styling experience to girls who may not otherwise be able to afford it. As costs continue to rise, and with many families across Belize still recovering economically, initiatives like Project Royalty are more important than ever. Project Royalty instills confidence in young women by helping them feel seen, valued, and beautiful during one of the most memorable nights of their lives. By providing free prom dresses and a supportive styling experience, the initiative empowers girls to embrace their worth and show up with pride. It’s more than just fashion, Zabaneh expressed that it’s a reminder that they deserve to shine, no matter their circumstances.
Zabaneh is a delegate for the 2025 Miss Universe Belize pageant.
