Prosecution Closes Its Case in Attorney Oscar Selgado’s Murder Abetment Trial

The prosecution has closed its case in the trial of Attorney Oscar Selgado who is accused of abetment to commit murder. Today, Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl Lynn-Vidal called three witnesses: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, former Inspector of Police Wilfredo Ferrufino, and the senior magistrate who handled the preliminary inquiry. Williams and Ferrufino testified that they heard recordings made by the alleged hitman, Giovanni Ramirez. Their testimonies come after the recordings went missing from evidence. The DPP explained that their testimonies were essential to establish the fact that the recordings existed and had been tendered into evidence.

Selgado stands accused of hiring Ramirez to kill Marilyn Barnes.  Barnes had reportedly made a report of sexual misconduct about him to the General Legal Counsel. The trial resumes on Thursday morning.
