As we have reported, the Primary School Examinations slated for March 30 and April 30 have also been postponed. A new date has not been set as yet as the Ministry of Education will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation. For high school and tertiary levels students who were to sit CXC and CAPE, Minister Patrick Faber stated that they should not worry as those dates will most likely be adjusted as well.
Hon. Partick Faber, Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture: “As you may have heard by now the Primary School Examination scheduled for March 30th and April 30th are now suspended and we will at a later date provide new information on these portions of the primary school exam. For high schoolers who are concerned about CSEC examinations and or tertiary level students who are concerned about the CAPE exams remember that these exams are regional exams and the regional body responsible for CSEC and CAPE ,CXC Caribbean Examinations Council, is at this time considering adjustments to the exam administration period. Our personnel in Belize in the Ministry of Education are part of those discussions and once those decisions are finalized we will make every attempt to have Belizean students and their parents know what is expected of them as it relates to these exams.”
All schools, including tertiary level school such as the University of Belize and Galen University are expected to comply with the suspension of classes for the next two weeks.
