This past Friday and Saturday brought changes to the Council of Management for the Public Service Union of Belize as the 93rd Annual General Meeting was held in Orange Walk Town. The meeting, held under the theme, ‘PSU: Embracing our Future; Transforming Belize; Improving Standards through Innovative Technologies’, had presentations by Sharon Frazer, the President of the Association of Public Service Senior Managers and Adelaida Guerra who presented on behalf of the Belize National Teachers’ Union. In the elections for the Council of Management, Eldred Neal gained the President’s seat with Kenneth Mortis being the Second Vice President,; Nuri Castaneda was elected as General Secretary and Tracey Gillett and Fayne Nicascio will now serve as councillors. These elected members to the council will serve for two years. Also on the agenda was a segment where five members of the council were recognized for selfless contribution to the Public Service Union, namely, Marvin Blades, Phillip Tate, Nuri Castaneda, Christina Sanchez and Rachel Lucas. In addition to that, a donation from the union was made to the Orange Walk Cancer Society which was presented to Miss Bahadur. There were resolutions passed during the two-day AGM while an in-depth discussion was had on the Public Sector Trust Fund.
