Punta Gorda Town Council To Fix License Plate Misprint

The Punta Gorda Town Council is working to correct a printing error on the town’s license plates that recently came to light. On Monday, a resident took to Facebook to highlight an error on the newly designed Punta Gorda license plates. The man pointed out that while the plates featured a toucan, it was the wrong species of the animal that was depicted. While Belize’s National bird is the Keel-Billed Toucan, the plates were printed with images of a South American Toco Toucan. PG Mayor Carlos Galvez spoke on the situation today and explained that the council has reached out to the business that was contracted to print the license plates. He says the council was not aware of the issue but hopes to correct it as soon as possible.

Galvez added that the council will not recall the plates that are already in circulation.
