Punta Negra Resident Shot During Weekend Home Invasion

A man from Punta Negra Village in the Toledo district, is recovering after being shot during a home invasion over the weekend. Deon Garoy reported to police that early Saturday morning, there was a knock on his door. When he didn’t answer, a man kicked in his door and opened fire. Garoy was hit but managed to escape the scene and later reported the matter to Punta Gorda Police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says that the department currently has more questions than answers in this latest shooting.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “On Saturday the 31st day of August 2024 Deon Garoy reported that he was at Punta Negra when he heard someone knocking at his door. The person then stomped open his door and produced a handgun and shot him to the leg. He ran off, the person fired more shots at him but he managed to escape. He then visited the Punta Gorda Police Station where he made his report. We are seeking one known suspect for this shooting incident. Garoy is in stable condition at this time.”
The suspect in the incident remains at large at this time.
