PUP calls government merciless for hike in butane and fuel prices

PRESS RELEASE - GOB MERCILESS IN TIME OF CRISIS-1

Audrey Matura and the former LPG importers are not the only ones concerned about the hike in prices of butane. The People’s United Party (PUP) has issued a press release calling the current government merciless.

Audrey Matura and the former LPG importers are not the only ones concerned about the hike in prices of butane. The People’s United Party (PUP) has issued a press release calling the current government merciless.  The PUP’s concern has to do with the butane issue as well as the increase of fuel prices. According to the opposition party, even when the prices of these two commodities decrease in the region and around the world, Belize never gets to enjoy the low cost.  The PUP stated, quote, “The decision by the United Democratic Party Government to raise the prices of fuel and butane, in the face of a pandemic and economic crisis of unprecedented proportions, is a slap in the face of all normal Belizeans.” End of quote. Similar to the sentiments shared by Matura, the PUP stated that the National Gas Company has managed to push the former importers out of business at a time when they were willing to sell butane at historically low prices. According to the release, the PUP are no longer calling on the UDP for good governance, but rather they are calling on Belizeans to stand up against injustice.
