The People’s United Party has been busy conducting various polls around the country.  Based on the outcome of the polls, Party Leader John Briceno says he believes that his party will take back some divisions that are currently UDP areas.  Among that list is the Pickstock and the Cayo North Divisions.

Hon. John Briceno, Leader of the Opposition, People’s United Party:We are fighting for all thirty one seats. Now I can assure you that we -from the polling that we’ve been doing, the information — because we have been doing a lot of polling in individual constituencies where we believe that we may need to concentrate, a division that we feel we can win that we have not won before so we do a poll and from what I’m seeing it’s going to be a large , we believe that we’re going to get a large majority. I believe that we can win Belmopan, I believe that we can win Dangriga, I believe we can win all four in Orange Walk. I feel that we can win Cayo North and in Pickstock, Port Loyola you know these are some and I don’t want to give everything but these are areas where we believe we can be fairly confident that we are going to win.”

Briceno went on to speak of the safety at the polls as it relates to Covid-19.  He says for him the most important thing is to reassure the voters that it is okay to come out and vote.

Hon. John Briceno, Leader of the Opposition, People’s United Party: “The most important thing we have to do is to ensure Belizeans that it is going to be safe to go and vote and that we as a party we’re going to be responsible, we’re going to take care of them we’re not going to crowd them, we’re going to clean the vehicles before a new person gets in, we’re going to have masks if they need, we’re going to have sanitizers. More than ever people would not want to be crowded so we have to take those steps. The Elections and Boundaries Commission through our commissioners have been doing everything possible they’re going to put more rooms  so that less people go to vote in one room, they’re going to check your temperature, they’re going to sanitize your hands, the pencils are going to be regularly sanitized once you use it you put it in another box and that’s going to be sanitized before somebody else uses it or if you wish you could bring your own pen or whatever that you mark the vote. “
