Another politician who says he’s open to debate is the People’s United Party’s Stann Creek West candidate Rodwell Ferguson. Ferguson is going up against former Labour Commissioner Ivan Williams, who is running for the Tracy Panton faction of the United Democratic Party, and Macario Augustine Junior for the Shyne Barrow Faction of the UDP. Ferguson told our newsroom that he’s been calling for a debate and feels his political experience has made him poised to defeat any of his opponents.

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Transport: “I have no objection to that. Every year I try to request that we have a debate. This year I have actually four challengers. I hope that all of them would want a debate. I am open to It once they are ready let’s go for it.”
Reporter: What would you say would be your strength going into debating your political opponent ?
Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Transport: “Well my strength would be my experience. I’ve been in politics since 2022 and I understand the whole concept of politics, the whole concept of governing and so I have no objection to go to a debate because I’ll be able to articulate to the people what I am doing so far, what I want to do in the future if I’m elected to office.”
The PUP’s Gilroy Usher spoke with us earlier today and said that he welcomes a debate from any or all of the three challengers contesting the Port Loyola division./
