Back in July, we reported on a shortage of chicken. The cause was due to a decrease in production to minimize losses that were expected due to covid-19. IT turns out that the decision makers underestimated the demand and fell short for several weeks in production. The situation has since been rectified and now, one supplier, Quality Poultry is making a big comeback by offering discounts on their product in time for Independence Day. Raymond Barkman, the General Manager for Quality Chicken, explained that this promotion can be accessed at any of their branches.
Raymond Barkman, General Manager, Quality Poultry: “So this weekend and since it’s the 39th birthday of Belize we decided what better way to announce to make sure that everyone knows that the shortage is over, we have conquered that problem and so now what we’re doing is we’re gonna give back again for the September weekend and where the inspiration came from again it’s just like I had mentioned it’s because of the 39th birthday of Belize we decided to bring down .39 cents on four items and .39 cents means .39 cents for each pound; so that is on the leg in bag, the breast in bag, the chicken cuts in bag and the whole chicken. So I’m really excited that this is sort of a just making sure that everyone knows that we’re back and shortage is over and you can eat as much chicken as you want. There had been rumors on Facebook and so forth that we were using this to raise the chicken price and so forth and I can speak on Quality Poultry that we have not raised any prices at all in fact we decided to stay with everyone during this time and that’s the plan and in fact that’s still the idea and hence the reason we’re also giving back again in for the 39th birthday of Belize. So yes we are still here, we’re still with all of you, we will suffer with you for now and keep going and see what else we can bring.”
