Quintana Roo Record 1st Case on Monkeypox

Belizean health authorities are on high alert after neighbouring Quintana Roo, Mexico, recorded its first case of monkeypox. It’s a male patient who according to official reports, is stable and in isolation. He requested medical attention on July 11 after exhibiting skin lesion, low-grade fever, headache and muscle pain. Monkeypox is usually a self-limited disease, with symptoms lasting 2 to 4 weeks. Clinical signs are usually fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes. The government there is advising its citizens to practice preventative measures including the use of face masks and social distancing. We’ll keep following this story.
