Rayan Aquino is one of three Belizeans who escaped death following a shooting in Tulum, Mexico on a beachfront on Thursday, June 24. The 24-year-old whereabouts were unknown up to late Saturday night as the family was searching desperately for Aquino. The family was able to later confirm that the young man is alive and well, and is in a Mexican Immigration detention center in Cancun. However, the Embassy of Belize in Mexico says that they’ve not received official confirmation from Mexican authorities. Aquino’s family told Love News that they are in contact with Mexican authorities and are working on trying to get him home. Aquino was reportedly socializing on the beach with Christian Folgarait and Gladimir Chable when theycame under attack. Notably, earlier today in a media briefing Assistant Commissioner of Police Fitzroy Yearwood told the media that the Belize Police Department has yet to receive any official report on the incident from Mexican authorities.
