Red Bank Village Chairman Delivers on Land Survey Promise

Red Bank Village Chairman Delivers on Land Survey Promise

Three hundred and forty house lots in Red Bank Village are now surveyed, thanks to the efforts of village’s outgoing chairman Kenrick Cal. Back in 2021, when Cal was only a candidate, he committed to addressing the squatters’ situation in Red Bank. Fast forward to yesterday, and the chairman was able to work with the central government to fulfill that commitment. Chairman Cal spoke to Love News and says he is proud of this project.

Kenroy Cal, Chairman, Redbank Village: “We’re here to highlight people with one of our accomplishments for the past three years under my leadership. In 2021, when I was campaigning to run as a chairperson, the people gave me a mandate and we listened to what was the cry of our people. You know, squatting is happening and you know there are issues within peoples and neighbors and so forth in regards to land, house lot and so. And then I mentioned to the people that if elected we’ll find a solution to it.  We went ahead and started a project to survey 340 houses for the residents of Red Bank. We’re glad the challenges that we had for two years I had to battle with the Thurton Estate because Red Bank was included in the Thurton Estate  and then a communal land boundary above Red Bank which made it very difficult for us to get a project going. But with the assistance of the Deputy Prime Minister, our area representative, the commissioner, the CEO, we have managed  to roll out the project.”

Of the lots distributed today, 190 community members signed the papers for their lots, with several being first time land owners.

Kenroy Cal, Chairman, Redbank Village: “Last year we completed phase one which majority I can say 98 % of the house that was issued to the people of Redbank and the demand is there and then we could not have completed the second phase. But under my leadership, I can say we have successfully completed the surveying of 340 house lots. If you can see behind me that this area is developing quick. Now you can see construction behind me. We have streets and then we are, as you look at the back there, we have that’s where the second phase will be, 190 lets that the people of Redbank will be benefiting off.  So we will have machinery work there to put street works to make sure that we deliver this house lots to our people. And today we’ll be filling out forms for 190 people, you know, that are in need of a house, that we are prioritizing the first time lot owners, right? So our young people need these house lots. And then I have done my part in the capacity of a chairperson to make sure that we deliver these to our people.”

Cal and his team have also brought better communication services to the village.
