Remand for Kevaughan Middleton Extended Pending Bail Application

Twenty-four-year-old, Belize City resident Kevaughan Allan Middleton, remains on remand at the Belize Central Prison pending bail. Middleton was initially remanded on July 10 for several criminal offenses of attempted murder, wounding, use of deadly means of harm upon Security Guard, Kelvin Todd. He was also charged with one count of kept unlicensed firearm and kept unlicensed ammunition. Today when he appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, he learned that bail for his offenses were not guaranteed at the lower court and he was advised to make a bail application to the high court of Belize. He was further remanded until October 19. On July 27, Middleton, who had lost a child, was allowed to leave the Belize Central Prison to attend the child’s funeral.
