Resident Faces Arson Charges after Neighbor’s Property Damaged by Garbage Fire

A resident of La Democracia Village is facing possible arson charges after she burnt two wooden posts belonging to her neighbor. Sharima Oshon says that the police are seeking to charge her based on a complaint by her neighbor who reported that a garbage fire damaged her property. Over the weekend, Oshon was burning garbage when the flames fanned out and burnt a portion of her neighbor’s wooden fence. Yesterday, her attorney, Norman Rodriguez, told Love News that the police’s actions were absurd given that Oshon did not intentionally burn the wooden sticks, and caused little to no actual damage.

Norman Rodriguez, Attorney: “She was called by police to inform her that she has to present herself to the police station in Mahogany Heights to be charged for a crime. My instructions are that she has a neighbor who continuously throws garbage on her property. She decided to burn the garbage and two posts, they call it posts to me they look like sticks you know when you live in the village you cut sticks and you just bury it in the ground and you tie your wire to it. She burned the garbage and it caught on two of the sticks and the police has informed me that they’re going to charge her for arson. Now maybe that is the charge that they’ve been instructed to proffer on her but my client has instructed me that she has attempted to make many reports in relation to the behavior or her neighbor and I see it as unfair if you’re gonna ignore one person’s report and then you’re  going to as soon as the other person makes a report you want to proffer such a major charge upon this person which can take away that person’s freedom. Again investigate. The police is doing a very poor job of it in my respectful opinion.”
