Residents capture gunman in weekend shooting

Tonight, police continue to probe into the weekend murder of 29-year-old, Adrian Pook whose attacker was captured by a vigilante group of residents. Just before 10 o’clock on Sunday morning, Pook was socializing at his home on Ordonez Street when a lone gunman approached him. The assailant opened fire on Pook and killed him on the spot. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, says residents of the area then captured the assailant and handed him over to police.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Around 9:58 AM police responded to a shooting incident in Belize City. Upon their arrival they found that Adrian Pook received a gunshot injury to the body. He was taken to the KHMH where he later succumbed to his injuries. Information gathered from the scene is that Pook was at his residence when a male person came and fired a single shot at him causing the fatal injury. The families who were at the yard at the time subdued the person and took away the 9mm pistol which was handed over to police. This person is at the KHMH as he received injuries when he was detained by the family and will be charged for murder as soon as he’s released from the KHMH.”
