Hattieville police responded to a report at around 2:30am yesterday and met with the victim of a burglary, 59-year-old Felix Godoy, a Belizean American and retired security officer. Godoy recounted that just after midnight, he was awaken by the sensation of a firearm being pressed against the side of his face. A male intruder then demanded, “Weh the money deh?” to which Godoy responded, “Which money?” At the same time, Godoy heard another person rummaging through his belongings. The armed intruder then held up a black Champion waist bag and questioned Godoy, “You remember this bag?”. Godoy confirmed that it was his, acknowledging that it contained his personal belongings. Inside the bag were $3,000 in U.S. currency, $75 in Belizean currency, a brown leather wallet holding his Social Security card and bank cards. Additionally, the intruder took a cell phone valued at $400 BZD, bringing the total stolen items to an estimated $6,475 BZD. The burglars then restrained Godoy by tying his hands behind his back using a white phone charging wire and a brown extension cord before fleeing the scene. Police arrived at the residence and observed that the front door lock had been damaged. A statement was recorded from Godoy, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.
