Retired teacher Henry Matthews is recovering from life-saving brain surgery, and his family is seeking help to cover the cost. Matthews, who spent over thirty years teaching, was diagnosed with a small brain tumor back in 2020. On the advice of his doctor, he opted to have the tumor removed through elective surgery. Things went awry when the pandemic hit and all elective surgeries were suspended. During that time his condition worsened and by the time things had gotten back to normal Matthews’ condition had worsened. His wife, Avis Matthews, says he was given a 50/50 chance to live if he didn’t get the surgery right away, so they sent him to Clinica de Merida. But every day in the hospital sees an increase in expenses.
Avis says that her family is holding on to hope that he will wake up soon and return home to them. Anyone wishing to support the Matthews family can make a donation to the Holy Redeemer Credit Union account 000050084 under the name Lianni Matthews.
