A woman who was acquitted of killing her child’s father in 2012 appeared back in court yesterday after DPP submitted for a retrial. Calaney Flowers appeared represented by Attorney Leroy Banner before Justice Derick Sylvester where her trial for murder and attempted murder was set to begin on June 14. Flowers was first charged in 2012 for the murder of Lyndon Morrison, the father of her son. It is alleged that Flowers followed him, and ran her vehicle into his motorcycle killing him and injuring his new girlfriend who was on the motorcycle with him. While she was charged with the murder of Morrison she was also charged for the attempted murder of Sochyl Sosa but walked free of all charges despite the crown calling Sosa, their main witness to testify about the horrifying day her boyfriend died. Justice Troadio Gonzalez found her not guilty after 5 years on remand. In 2019, the DPP appealed the case.
