The bail application submitted on behalf of 19-year-old, Rhavin Gillett of Crooked Tree Village was denied when he appeared today before Justice Colin Williams based on the fact that the victim, Elton Baizar, is in a critical condition and if he should die, the accused would then be charged with murder. Gillett was represented today by attorney, Leeroy Banner. On Wednesday, April 17, when he was arraigned on charges of attempted murder and grievous harm before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson he appeared unrepresented. It is alleged that Gillett along with others got into a physical altercation with Baizar who was badly injured and left for dead as a result. The incident occurred in the Jabiru area of Crooked Tree Village. Gillett remains on remand until June 25.
