Last week it was announced that the title, Right Honorable, was given to Prime Minister Dean Barrow through an appointment to the Privy Council. But this title isn’t something that Barrow was asking for. It is usually bestowed upon Belize’s Prime Minister on his second consecutive term. That did not happen during Barrow’s consecutive term and he explained why today.
“It came in my third and not in my second term because I made no effort to acquire it. Basically when you win two it’s a kind of entitlement but there is something that needs to be done and I did not do it because for me it really is no big deal. I didn’t do it this time ,unbeknownst me a member of the Belize High Commission in the UK went to the British unbeknownst to me otherwise things would have remained in the third term as they were in the second term but I’m not upset with the person and I’m not going to criticize the initiative that the person took and with all I will say that I am grateful and I will leave it at that.”
George Cadle Price, Said Wilbert Musa and Sir Manuel Esquivel have also been given the title of “Right Honourable”.
