Road Traffic Incident Claims Life in Ladyville

A resident of Ladyville Village, Belize District, lost his life in a road traffic incident yesterday afternoon. The victim, 20-year-old William Faux, was traveling on a motorcycle on Airport Road when he was involved in a traffic mishap with an SUV. Faux sustained severe injuries and, unfortunately, died on the scene. His aunt, Sherlett Gomez, says Faux was a jovial person, who was advised several times to drive safer on the road. 

Sherlette Gomez, Aunt of Deceased: “William was always someone who would put a smile on my face no matter what the day would be for me or for him whenever we would get a chance to come together he will always maybe crack a joke here or crack a joke there and deep down we know he was not happy sometimes but he always found a way to bring in something funny to bring a smile on everybody’s face that’s who he was to me. He was young, twenty years old, so very jovial and like I said made everyone around him smile even if they didn’t feel like it.”

Reporter: And in terms of his unfortunate passing, did the family maybe ever advise him to be safe while on the motorcycle or anything like that ? I know he loved motorcycles.

Sherlette Gomez, Aunt of Deceased: “Of course. This was not his first accident. I think this was like his third so we always made sure to tell him you know what drive safe, try to be as safe as you can out there but that’s as much as we can do.”

Reporter: Would you advise anyone else, young motorcyclist ?

Sherlette Gomez, Aunt of Deceased: “Well the same you know ? They think that they’re immortal because they’re  young but my advice to them is to be very careful on the road and they have family at home that loves them very dearly and we wouldn’t want them to have to go through what we are going through right now.”

Back in 2022, Faux was involved in an accident that claimed the life of his best friend 19-year-old Daniel Thompson. Faux had rear-ended Thompson after the pair left a nightclub in Ladyville Village.
