The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing is advising the public that roadside signs and memorials along the George Price Highway will need to be removed as upgrade works continue on the major roadway. According to a public notice issued on January 28, works under the George Price Highway Upgrading Project from Belmopan to La Democracia are actively progressing. As part of the construction process, business signs and roadside memorials, including crosses and other commemorative markers, that are located within the road reserve will have to be removed. The Ministry acknowledged the personal and emotional significance of roadside memorials and stated that the removal process will be carried out with respect and sensitivity. The public has been advised that all removals must be completed by March 2, ahead of the next phase of construction works. The Ministry further noted that once the highway upgrade is completed, individuals and businesses wishing to reinstall private signs within the road reserve will be required to reapply for approval through the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing. Officials are asking for the cooperation and understanding of the public, emphasizing that the project is aimed at improving the safety and overall quality of one of the country’s most critical transportation corridors.
