Roaring Creek Family Fears Foul Play as Young Father Disappears on Birthday

The family of Roaring Creek resident, Moises Garbutt, was hoping to celebrate his 24th birthday with him yesterday, but instead, they were engaged in a desperate search to find him. His relatives went to visit him on Sunday to celebrate, but he wasn’t at home.  Curiosity quickly turned into panic when they realized that he was missing. No one has seen nor heard from the father of two since he spoke with his mother and girlfriend around nine o’clock on Saturday night. His family formed a search party and went looking for him today, but up to news time tonight, they haven’t found any leads. They say they are frustrated because police are not assisting with the search at such a critical time. His sister, Leah James, told Love News that based on information they received, they believe Garbutt is being held against his will, but they do not know by whom.

Leah James, Sister of Moises Garbutt: “His house is directly in the back of my mom’s house and he has a girlfriend that resides with him as well. She and my mom were the last persons from our family to see him. There was someone else that the police is aware of that he was in contact with and that was the last person he was seen with. He was also on a recording from a camera nearby that was the last person he was seen with but there was no record on the camera of him leaving that said location so we already notified the police of that as well so that’s what we’re going with right now. From what we know he had received second hand threats and apparently it was sort of linked to the same person he was last seen with. We are very concerned because it’s not like him. We are a very close knit family, it’s not like him to just up and leave without notifying either me, my mom or his friends. He usually calls me every single day and talks to me and talks to my daughter so it’s not like him to just up and leave like that without notifying anyone. We are definitely holding on to hope. We’re definitely continuously praying if anyone prays we ask them to keep us in prayer and keep my brother in prayer as well so that he will find his way home.”

James says she hopes police will render assistance, as the family lacks training required to deal with this sort of situation. Garbutt is described as being of Creole descent with brown complexion and a height of five feet nine inches. He has black, afro hair, a beard, a mustache, and tattoos on his left and right arms. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is urged to contact his family at 673-7679 or report it to police by calling 911, 922, or the nearest police station./
