Quick police response led to the detention of one robber who stole items from 128 Store in Orange Walk. The incident occurred on Wednesday around 7pm. According to Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero, the store was robbed by two armed men, and one person was injured during the process.

Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: Police responded to a robbery at 128 Chinese Store where the proprietor reported that two male persons robbed the business establishment, one was armed with a knife the other was armed with a shotgun. During the robbery they stole an amount of cash and a cellular phone thereafter one of the male persons fired a shot from the shotgun which hit the wall and then the pellets struck one of the occupants in the store. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. Quick police response led to the detention of one person who is now in custody and I expect it to be charged for robbery. The cash and the cellphone were recovered from him.”
Police also gave brief updates on the two latest murders. In the case of 26-year-old Angel Cahueque, police are looking for one known suspect. For 24-year-old Robert Nunez, police say the only information they have is that he was drinking with two other men before he went missing. Police are also unsure of whether he was killed in Guatemala or Belize. We will keep following these two murders.
