Residents of Belmopan intervened in a robbery this morning in the San Martin Area of Belmopan.  Cayo Correspondent Fem Cruz spoke to an eyewitness who explained how the robber was caught.

Fem Cruz, Cayo Correspondent: “A knife robbery on Honduras Street in the San Martin Area of Belmopan sometime around 10:30 this morning left one person in police custody. Love News spoke to an eye witness who explained what happened.

Witness: “A Chinese girl she stood there standing in front of the shop with her van and then unexpectedly two men just came beside her and then took her bag. They wrestled with her and she started screaming but then like how she saw that they were hurting her she let go of the bag and then they started running the two of them; one went running with the phone and the other with the bag. During Thursdays around this time she usually comes by every shop selling plastic bags. When we saw the two of them running, the two thieves running, my husband and three more boys ran behind him and then caught him. One of the boys found the money actually and then after they found the money they came running and gave it to the police. I believe that it’s time for us to defend each other because it’s unfair, like you see we work hard for our money and for someone else to just come here and just take it like nothing that is real unfair so I believe it’s time for us, for the community to interact with each other and help each other.”
