Yesterday we reported on the robbery that happened on Monday when two men barged into Southern Choice Butane Limited at mile four on the Philip Goldson Highway and proceeded to rob the pump attendant and the company’s Secretary. After stealing an estimated six thousand dollars, the duo made a ran for it but quick response from police led to their detention. Superintendent of Police commanding Precinct Four, Linden Flowers, told us more.
“Two persons that physically took part in the robbery have been apprehended; in fact they were apprehended less than 400 yards away. Within five minutes of the call coming out one of the persons was taken into custody. They have both been charged. The next one was taken into custody, it was with the community’s help and the police alertness in the area that police on patrol were able to locate the second suspect. In fact what I will say is that our stop and search strategy that is used in precinct four when this robbery call came out two of my officers were able to give some description of these two persons because they had searched them a little earlier and had even found identification on the persons and inquired of them what they were doing in the area. That helped us in identifying and locating the persons along with other strategies that we employed in this area. One person Warren Davis and the second person is Kevin Faber both from the south side of Belize City and we continue to follow up. We believe that somewhere in the precinct four area the loot was stashed. The police is working on that and we trust that we will secure the recovery of that.”
The stolen monies have not been recovered. Authorities are trying to obtain security footage that may have captured the perpetrators in the act.
