Robbers Target Delivery Truck in Orange Walk, Employee Detained

The second robbery incident also occurred on Friday in Orange Walk Town where workers on a delivery truck were held up.  Love News understands that one of the employees has since been detained for questioning.  Reports say that at around one thirty in the afternoon, employees of Triple A Imports were robbed at gunpoint while en route to the bank to make deposits.  Barrington Flowers, a salesperson, was driving a blue Nissan Frontier pickup with two female colleagues, Carla Grajales and Melanie Hernandez. As they approached the Town Hall on Arthur Street, a white Equinox SUV blocked their path.  Two men exited the SUV; one held a hammer, and the other appeared to have a firearm. The man with the hammer smashed the driver’s window, demanding the money bag. The armed assailant then fired a shot into the vehicle, narrowly missing the driver.  The employees handed over two bags containing an undisclosed amount of cash and cheques. The robbers then fled in the SUV towards Progress Street.  Police processed the scene, recorded several statements, and have detained Flowers for questioning.  Up to news-time this evening, no property has been recovered.
