A Rockville Village man faced charges this morning following a weekend stabbing. 38-year-old Emmanuel Jason Kerr, a self-employed resident of Rockville Village, was arraigned in Belize City Magistrate’s Court. He faces charges of grievous harm and use of deadly means of harm. The charges stem from an incident on Sunday, June 29, when 44-year-old Juan Rivera, also of Rockville Village, suffered a cut wound to his face. Police say Rivera and Kerr were socializing when a heated argument escalated, and Kerr allegedly used a knife to wound Rivera before fleeing the scene. Rivera was taken to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition. Kerr pleaded not guilty to both charges. Despite objections from the prosecution, he was granted $3,000 bail plus one surety, which he met. Kerr is scheduled to reappear in court on September 1, 2025. Police were unable to recover the knife used in the incident.
