Rotary International President, Barry Rassin on tour in Belize

Rotary International President, Barry Rassin and his wife, Esther arrived in Belize today. The visit is part of his presidential tour for the Rotary Year which commenced July first, 2018 and ends June thirtieth, 2019. The tour forms part of efforts to strengthen the public image of Rotary and Rassin’s visit to Belize will see the participation of Rotarians from Belize, Guatemala and Honduras, which form District 4250. PR Representative, Rotarian Katherine Meighan extended a warm welcome to the couple. She adds, quote, “It’s been 56 years since the last Rotary International President visited Belize. We have a full agenda planned over the next few days, including our press conference tomorrow. Throughout these days, we look forward to great fellowship between all our district clubs. Our District Governor, Jose Interriano and his wife Ena will also be attending along with a small delegation from Guatemala…Our President asked to visit Belize so we are excited to show him and his wife true Belizean hospitality; this also gives us a great opportunity to put Belize at center stage for Rotarians across the world,” end quote.  Rassin’s visit marks the first in his presidential year and the first visit to Belize of a Rotary President in an official capacity since 1962 when President Joseph Abey of Pennsylvania, USA came to Belize.
