Salvadoran National Awaits Deportation After Failing to Comply with Visitor’s Permit

A Salvadoran national is awaiting deportation after being charged for failing to comply with the conditions of a visitor’s permit. Twenty-one-year-old Hugo Calderon appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he immediately pleaded guilty to the offense, he was fined a thousand dollars plus five dollars cost of court. He remains at the Belize Central Prison until he can be deported. Calderon said he came into the country to visit his brother who lives in Guinea Grass Village, Orange Walk District. His records show that on July 5 he entered the country with a visitor’s permit which expired on July 31. He was never granted an extension on that permit.
