Salvadoran National Deported After Living Illegally in Belize

A Salvadoran national reportedly living illegally in Belize since 2014 is being deported back to his home country. Twenty-nine-year-old, Carlos Beltran appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a single charge of failure to comply with the conditions of an order to leave. He was fined a thousand dollars which had to be paid forthwith but since he could not pay he was sentenced to three months in prison. Back in 2014 he was charged for entering Belize illegally via the banks of the Mopan River, and was ordered to return to his home county.
