Salvation Army Rings in Christmas Season with Annual Kettle Appeal Launch

The iconic Salvation army bell rang today to introduce its kettle appeal and the start of the Christmas season. An effort that they use to collect donations from the kindhearted so the Salvation Army can help spread the Christmas spirit to as many families as they can. The church has an ambitious goal of being the Santa of salvation by giving gifts to children from all over the country, but this can only be done with proper funding. As such, the Salvation Army sets out every year asking for donations. Today they first doner was none other than Retired Educator Maria Coye, who says she is proud of the salvation army for going out and beyond to contribute to people who are in need. She told us what is was like to be the first contributor to the pot.

Maria Coye, Retired Educator: “Oh, was a great honor. I always hold the Salvation Army in very high esteem.  I think it’s an organization that goes out  beyond the calling  as they contribute  to people who are in need, especially children and the elderly. Because remember, we must remember that there are people during Christmas time who are without and they’re the ones who step up to the plate and they have the drives for toys,  for parties, um so that children have a memorable childhood.”

Coye advocates for every child to have a memorable Christmas, and she says that The Salvation Army does a good job at providing one for them.
