San Antonio Village Flooded, Residents Rely on Boats for Transport Amid Rising Waters

Tonight, residents of San Antonio Village, Orange Walk continue to require the use of boats to get in and out of the community. Since Tropical Storm Nadine hit on October 19, the Rio Hondo River has been experiencing flood water levels. This evening, persons in passenger buses were forced to exit and travel a significant portion of the San Antonio Road by boat belonging to the Belize Defence Force. The force has been working with the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) this week to assist residents. The situation is expected to slightly worsen with incoming rains this weekend.
