Residents of San Jose Succotz, Cayo District, will soon get some relief by way of their weekly garbage fee. Currently, the over 200 residents are burdened with paying an average of seven to eight dollars weekly for garbage collection. Area Representative, Jorge Melin Espat, has recently acquired a truck that will facilitate the weekly collection. It is an initiative that he says would not only save the residents’ some money, but it will also create employment for a few persons.

Joge “Melin” Espat, Area Representative, Cayo West: “One of the things that we want to do though is the business establishment. We do believe that we will ask them for at least a donation or try to put a fee because that’s a business. So at the end of the day that will be the only exception or adjustment that we will try to do. But when it comes to the resident it’s going to be free of cost. Perhaps maybe next week we should start that program. We’re just getting the vehicle ready. Unfortunately, the weather is not helping us. It’s not on our side. But yes, the villagers and residents of San Jose Succotz will be having a free garbage collection services.”
