Santa Cruz Village Resident Fatally Shot, Police Seek Assailant

Another man was fatally shot over the weekend. The incident happened Friday night in Santa Cruz Village, Stann Creek District. Around 9:30, 27-year-old, Kevin Pena, was walking on an unnamed street not far from his home when a gunman approached him. The assailant pulled out a handgun and fired as many as four shots at Pena. He ran for his life but collapsed in nearby bushes where he succumbed to his injuries. However, it was not until Saturday morning that police discovered his body. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero provided additional details.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Police visited Santa Cruz Village. Upon their arrival they found Kevin Pena, 27 years, with gunshot injuries. Information is that several gunshots were heard earlier in the night and then his body was discovered in the morning and he had several gunshot injuries. Information revealed that he was near his home when he was approached by a male person who fired several shots resulting in his fatal injuries. We have no suspects at this time.”

Pena was the third murder over the weekend.
