Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent as at August 31; be under 40 years of age as of September 1, 2016; be in good health, physically and mentally; not have had enrolled in a university in Korea and possess a GPA higher than B, or grades of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution. Deadline for application is March 25, 2016. There is another opportunity for Belizeans who would like to go to China for further studies. While Belize and China do not share diplomatic relations, the opportunity comes via the Organization of American States. The Government of the Republic of China, through the Ministry of Education of China (MOE), in cooperation with the OAS Department of Human Development, Education and Employment have come together to offer partial scholarships to citizens of OAS member states to pursue studies in China, in any field of study available to international students, starting in September 2016. This opportunity, however, does not cover airfare for the successful applicant to China but includes Chinese language training as well as undergraduate and graduate programs in the Chinese universities. This scholarship covers registration, tuition and books, study materials, accommodations, subsistence, medical insurance and local transportation. Deadline to apply is March 25, 2016. Another opportunity is coming out of New Zealand where they are offering post-graduate programs starting in February 2017. Two spaces are available for Doctorate or Masters Level. Applicants must be a citizen of Belize; must be residing in Belize at least two (2) years prior to the application submission; must be applying to commence a new qualification and not seeking funding for one already commenced; should hold a first degree of upper second class honours level or above or a second class degree and a relevant post-graduate qualification; should be able to take up their awards by the start of the New Zealand academic year in February of 2017. Whilst awards remain open to all subjects of study, preference will be given to applications that demonstrate linkage to the country’s development priorities. Applicants are encouraged to make such links explicit in their application. Additional information can be obtained from the Ministry of the Public Service, Energy and Public Utilities. Monday, May 30, 2016 is the deadline for applications.
