Several humanitarian groups in the South are working to assist over two hundred and fifty students to prepare them for the upcoming school year. Bella Vista United is the group leading the initiative to provide students with uniforms, masks, temperature pistols, and other educational items. With Bella Vista being one of the largest villages in the Toledo District, the organizations have collaborated to ensure that every child’s needs are met as explained by Juan Carlos Martinez, Founder of the Bella Vista United.

According to Martinez, Fundraisers are also being held to attain these items.

Juan Carlos Martinez, Founder, Bella Vista United: “We are asking, we believe that we need to give and then if our initiative is to give we need to be involved. So we started with barbecue sales so we started early morning on Sundays and did barbecue sales. We’re on the highway, getting on the buses and try to sell so that’s the medium for raising funds. We also had on Sunday a washing machine that we raffled and that’s again to get funds for this and we’re seeking to the community and to all organizations, to all companies I mean to the nation of Belize on a whole if they wish to assist and to help this initiative to become a reality we are more than happy to say that we are here to facilitate and to ensure that it gets done the proper way. Because of the current situation money might be an issue but believe me that we have man power, we have people that really know how to sew, we have people who know how to do masks or whatever so what we are getting is some donations from some people in cloth so churches come together and people come together that can do those masks and then the youths can come together to iron so we come together and work it out in a manner. When it comes to a figure it’s more than ten thousand dollars that we are offering to the primary school.”
