Scotiabank is now nothing but a memory in Belize. Last Wednesday, the signage and its local online presence slowly began transitioning to Belize Bank. By Holy Saturday, all the ATMs and offices that Scotiabank once occupied were re-labeled. To date Scotiabank, customers who still possess their bank cards can still access their accounts at the ATMs; although it is uncertain for how long. The online banking service, once under the Scotiabank header, has been diverted to a separate server, but the time period for that to remains uncertain. Love News reached out to the Public Relations Department at the Belize Bank this morning and we were promised a callback, but up to news time, the call still hasn’t come. A general notice from the bank, however, came last Thursday indicating that through the transition period all Scotiabank staff would be kept on board. The notice added that those having loans at Scotiabank need not make any changes at the bank as Belize Bank is taking over those loans on the same arrangements. Our newsroom will keep following this story.
