It has been over 20 days since family members and friends last saw 32-year-old Pedro Cal. Cal left his home in Santa Cruz, Toledo in May to start a new job as a maintenance worker at El Ben Cabanas in Caye Caulker. According to his nephew, Anthony Cal he was returning home on May 3 since he did not like the new job. Cal told Caye Caulker correspondent, Anisa Martinez that Cal was detained by Police Officers in Belmopan on the day that he left Caye Caulker.

Anthony Cal, Nephew of Missing Man: “It has been 18 days now since Pedro Cal had left the beautiful village of Caye Caulker and from then well I was told the same day he was seen in Belmopan. And up to now we haven’t had any information. Nobody has seen him and nobody has known where he is. So we don’t have any idea what occurred or what happened to him. We don’t know where he could be now. Well according to the police when I get some information they told me that the same day he was arrested in Belmopan and then from there when they let him go again because he was not charged with anything, he was just let go and then nobody had seen him from then. According to the police he wanted to enter the Belmopan hospital and the security guard called and that’s the only reason that they detained him in Belmopan. But he was not charged with anything because he didn’t commit anything. Well according to them he had some mental problem but I’m not really sure because when he came here, everything was alright with him. Pedro Cal is a family member. I have known him to be a very kind, humble and respectful person. So I’m not sure what could have happened or what could have occurred on his way back home and I know that the family are really worried. They are worried sick and they have sleepless nights, you know, hoping, praying for the safe return of their son.”
