Secondary schools are already sending out notices to parents on how they plan to move following the announcement by the Ministry of Education of the phased reopening. The ministry has set April 12 and May 10 as the two dates for the reopening of schools. To reopen, however, school managements must fulfill a list of requirements before being certified to reopen. It is an application process that will take some time, although for some schools, they are already notifying parents of their reopenings. Yesterday, Sacred Heart College issued a letter notifying parents that the rest of this academic year will proceed online. The exception would be fourth former, who may require use of the lab or face-to-face sessions in order to complete the SBAs for CSEC exams. Meanwhile, for the students at Pallotti High School, they were given a survey to fill out and have subsequently been informed that face-to-face classes will resume on May 10 for fourth formers preparing for CSEC. On the other hand, first formers will receive face-to-face instruction starting on May 17. Love News understands that the schools will be operating on a shift system and making necessary accommodations for social distancing protocols.
