In the wee hours of Saturday morning, San Ignacio Police was called out to the area of the low lying bridge in that municipality following a traffic incident. Reports are that police responded to Savannah Street just after four o’clock where they found a blue Toyota Corolla sedan with extensive damages near the wall of the market. Trapped inside the vehicle was a man later identified as 34-year old, Patrick Gordon and a woman, 23-year-old, Gardina Teck, who was seated on the passenger side. Gordon was reportedly unconscious while the woman was in serious pain and crying for help. Preliminary investigations say that Gordon was coming from Santa Elena into San Ignacio Town when he lost control of the vehicle as he crossed the wooden bridge and as a result he slammed into the concrete wall of the market. The vehicle received extensive damages to its entire front portion and to the windshield. With the assistance of the Fire Department both persons were removed and transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital for medical attention. Teck suffered a broken right leg and a broken left wrist while Patrick received a cut wound on his left knee cap and had complaints of pain all over his body. According to police, both persons are believed to have been under the influence of alcohol. Medico forms were issued and a blood sample was requested from Gordon; a request which he has refused to comply with.
