Senate Considers Visa Exemption Agreement With Kazakhstan

In other news from the Senate, Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Eamon Courtenay, presented a motion authorizing Belize to ratify a visa exemption agreement with Kazakhstan. The agreement covers holders of diplomatic, service and official passports, allowing eligible travelers to visit without obtaining a visa. Lead Opposition Senator Patrick Faber supported the ratification but pointed out several corrections to the details Courtenay presented. Faber also spoke about the importance of passport integrity and examined how the benefits of the agreement balance out for Belize and Kazakhstan.

Belize and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on November 7, 2013, through a joint communiqué signed by representatives of both countries. The visa exemption agreement is aimed at strengthening those ties and making travel easier for holders of the designated passports.
