Senate Inquiry Heats Up: Hugo Patt Alleges Senator of Received Land Parcels Under Past Admin

Finally, from today’s Senate Inquiry, was an exchange between Patt and Senator Kevin Herrera.  In this segment, Patt alleged that Herrera too had received several parcels under the previous administration.

Hugo Patt, Former Minister of Natural Resources: “There was a system in place that had been there in practice since the 1970’s. So that system was there and all we did was basically follow on those. The methodology by which it was used is one that has been unchanged since the 1970’s.”

Senator Kevin Herrera: “And that process then would have been what ? Would it have been in compliance, would that be what you’re referring to sir ?”

Hugo Patt, Former Minister of Natural Resources: “I could not really tell you in terms of values. I was not the type of minister that micromanaged. As I said there were responsibilities attached to officers at different levels. But if I can go further Senator I think in 2016 you and your family had gotten quite a chunk of land from the government so that you would have known back then what the kind of price ranges would be so that would give you a clear indication. Thank you.”
Senator Kevin Herrera:“Yeah I don’t recall getting any land from government in 2016 sir so I don’t know where you’re getting that information from but I’m asking about pricing so could we just stick to that line of questioning sir ?”

Today’s inquiry concluded just after midday.
