Senator Bennett Moody Attends Regional Meetings on Hunger and Food Security in Chile
Senator Isabel Bennett Moody is in Chile this week for two high-level regional meetings focusing on hunger and food security. The Senator attended the Tenth Forum of the Parliamentary Front against Hunger in Latin America and the Caribbean (PFH-LAC) in Santiago, Chile on Wednesday. She then headed to Valparaiso, Chile for the Second Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and Malnutrition which began on Thursday and ended today. At the forum, Senator Bennett Moody joined parliamentarians from within the region to strengthen the work of the PFH-LAC and promote parliamentary cooperation within the region. The attendees also received presentations on several topics which included “The role of parliaments to achieve the Zero Hunger Goal in the current world scenario,” among several others. The two-day summit was organized by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Attendees at the summit participated in discussions in various areas of food and nutrition and food security. They also received an update on Sustainable Development Goal number 2 “Zero Hunger.” Senator Bennett Moody’s accommodation and travel were made possible through the support of the Mesoamerica Hunger-Free AMEXCID-FAO program and AECID.
