Senator Janelle Chanona to Lead Senate Committee Investigating Portico Agreement

NGO Senator, Janelle Chanona, has been selected as Chairperson for the Special Select Senate Committee that will be probing into Portico’s Definitive Agreement with the Government of Belize. As we reported yesterday, the committee met for the first time in Belmopan where the functions and processes were discussed prior to the start of official hearings. President of the Senate, Carolyn Trench Sandiford, spoke on this matter prior to the start of this morning’s Senate debates.

Senator Janelle Chanona has been a part of the legislative since March 2022 as the representative for the non-governmental organizations.
