Senior Citizen Attacked in her Home

An elderly woman was viciously attacked in her own home over the weekend. The nonagenarian, 92 year old Maria Gardener was peacefully at her seaside home in the Southern Foreshore area of Belize City when the incident occurred on Saturday. The man punched her on the mouth.  Ten minutes later police arrived at the scene and took her to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she was admitted in a stable condition.

Reporter: “Was anything burgled?”

It is unclear if anything was stolen. Later Saturday night during the art festival in the midst of the crowd, a man suddenly attempted to attack a woman who was sitting in a motorized wheelchair. The woman said that she did not realize what was happening untill a relative had to shield her from the man who suddenly wielded a knife towards her at the corner of Albert Street, adjacent to Lavish Store. She said she was sitting there a long time with family members watching the activities peacefully. Police officers quickly set in pursuit of the man and the festival continued without incident.
