Shalton Fuentes says he needs police protection

Shalton Fuentes, the man who turned in American fugitive Aldrick Scott to the police, believes his life is in danger after allegedly being attacked by one of Scott’s friends. According to Fuentes, on Saturday night a person, who he claims is Scott’s friend attacked him while walking on the beach in Caye Caulker. Earlier in the month, Fuentes turned Scott into the police after discovering the US citizen was wanted, in connection with the disappearance of his then-girlfriend, Cari Allen. Fuentes is now concerned for his safety and believes he may be targeted again.  The Caye Caulker resident is now asking for the police to protect him. Police Press Officer, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, commented on Fuentes’ request and says that the police are looking into the incident.

ASP. Fitzroy Yearwood, Public Relations, Belize Police Department: “Based on the nature of his report we will know what will take place. I don’t know who advised Mr.Fuentes to come forward to give a public interview when you alleged that you turned in a fugitive I mean it was not advisable, it has already been done and then we will have to see what we can do as a department to help him. But in the future if you’re out there doing your due diligence as a citizen of your nation that wants to keep your country safe it is good for you to turn in fugitive but not advisable to go public after doing so.”
