21-year-old, Sherwin Santos was sentenced to three years imprisonment after pleading guilty to robbery. Santos appeared unrepresented today before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser. While the minimum sentence for robbery set out in law is five years, Chief Magistrate Fraser was lenient and gave him two years less. Santos’ run-in with the law comes after 54-year-old Xinhui Zhang reported to police that in July 2018, three men entered the Good Fortune Restaurant and robbed him. The businessman noted that one of them pointed a firearm at him while the other two men opened the cash register and stole seven hundred dollars. In July 2018, Santos was charged jointly with a minor who spared the court’s time by pleading guilty to the charge and was given a one-year suspended sentence.
