An incident of gun violence occurred in the wee hours of this morning up in the north. A resident of rural Corozal was on his verandah just after four o’clock when he was approached and shot. According to the man he was awaiting a taxi. Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero provided the media this morning with preliminary details.
Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Police responded to shots fired at San Andres Village Corozal district. Upon their arrival they spoke to Juanito Quetzal who reported that he was on his veranda waiting for a taxi to take him to the bus terminal when he was approached by a male person who fired several shots at him. He received gunshot injuries to the shoulder and to the thigh. He is presently listed in a stable condition.”.
Investigators are following up on several leads at this time.
